The article discussed California's problem with the dwindling supply of farm laborers. Professor Taylor commented that this is because children in rural Mexico are growing up differently than the generations before them. "Mexico has been successful at building rural schools and providing kids in villages with access to education," Taylor said. This change contributed to the decrease in farm labor supply, which in turn decreased fruit and vegetable production in the United States.
